“Hand Hygiene is the simplest , most effective measure, for preventing Health Care
Associated Infections”

“Clean hands are safer hands”
- WHO Guidelines on Hand Hygiene in Healthcare.
Health Care Acquired Infections (HCAIs) have become a global crisis and
in seeking to tackle this problem the Hymed Systems team have focused on
developing an automated non intrusive system of Hand Hygiene Compliance for
Healthcare Professionals.
In the battle to eliminate MRSA, C.Difficile, and other healthcare acquired infections ( HCAIs), Hand Hygiene Compliance has long been identified as VITAL.
Numerous clinical trials have shown that significant improvements in hand hygiene compliance always result in major reductions in HCAIs. In June 2008 a 3 year multi site
Hand Hygiene trial in Australia demonstrated that a 100% improvement in hand hygiene compliance resulted in a reduction of 60% in HCAIs
Healthcare Acquired Infections
The continued upward growth in HCAIs are now of critical International concern
In the US, for example, there are now more deaths annually from HCAIs than there
are from the combined deaths from HIV/Aids, Breast Cancer and Auto Accidents.
These statistics were presented to a Committee of the US Congress during 2008.
HCAIs add significantly to cost, over runs on budgets, litigation, leading to major losses and difficulties with the long term funding of public and private healthcare, not to mention the emotional damage and trauma to patients and their loved ones.
Hymed Systems: Non-Intrusive Hand Hygiene Compliance
Hymed Systems have developed a user friendly system to encourage and increase the level of hand hygiene compliance by Healthcare Professionals.
Combining a convenient personal hand hygiene dispenser along with intelligent
wall mounted dispensers; we provide customised feedback on hand hygiene
activity........WIRELESSLY.
Reports that measure and compare hand hygiene activity facility wide are provided daily online (and hard copy as required) and are circulated to all Teams, Supervisors, Managers, and Infection Control Teams. Inter facility comparison reports are also available.
